To add page numbers to your in-text citations using Cite While You Write in Word:
- Open your Word document
- Click the citation you would like to modify. This will highlight it in grey.
- Go to the EndNote tab and choose Edit and Manage Citation(s). This will launch a pop-up box.
- Under the Edit Citation tab, type the page numbers in the Pages field.
- Click the OK button, and your pages should now appear in the citation. The 'p.' or 'pp.' will appear automatically if required by your referencing style (e.g. for Cite Them Right Harvard.)
The Pages field does not work for every style, if you find the page number does not appear in your citation, add it to the Suffix field in the Edit and Manage Citations pop-up box instead.
You can add further information in both the Prefix and Suffix fields if required.
It is important that you do not type in the page numbers into your citation or make any other manual edits to a citation. These changes will not be added to the code EndNote has embedded in the document so they won’t be permanently stored and you may corrupt your Word document.
